I have winter tyres and non-winter tyres. Seriously. Some may laugh at that (Kimi?) but I’ve been running Metzler Roadtech 01’s over winter the last few years and Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa IIs the rest of the time. Why? In winter ultra-high performance tyres like my most favourite tyre, the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II, simply don’t get enough heat into them to work properly. I note too with some interest that they can crack per the label that was attached to my “non-winter” set that I changed over to some weeks back. I can’t find anything online about this (grr) but my latest set from my mates at Pablos, Rick “Mr Happy” and Steve “awesome headbanging musik” had the attached sticker . YMMV but honestly, over winter IMHO super-duper sports tyres are completely wasted.
